He started its collaboration with the Paris-based press-office PRESSING in 2009.

As a result of this collaboration his clothing has been used for many editorial photo-shoots, and covered in magazines.

Sjaak Hullekes:

We have introduced the Sjaak Hullekes brand in the summer of 2008 at the Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks by participating the main trade fairs with our S/S 2009 collection. Since then we have been participating in the fashion scene and picked up by international magazines like Dazed & Confused, GQ Germany, GQ Italy, Numero Hommes and so on.

Interior, architecture & antiques…..

I get lots of inspiration from all the antiques and art I have collected during the past years. I love to go to many exhibitions, art galleries, and old architectonic buildings. Mies van der Rohe until Victor Horta ; I’m inspired by something touched by time…

I have a lot of respect for the classics in menswear. Besides that I think my designs are clear in a particular kind of minimalistic way (no nonsense), have got a tailored touch and always need to have a comfortable feel and an intellectual state of mind. And the practical side of menswear. Items should be practical but fashionable – a very important combination for me.

Always underline your own characteristics by the clothing you wear, never be overshadowed by clothing. See the beauty in all things we humans design, and surround yourself with beauty. Unique parts of fashion tailoring versus mass production. These days, it is about the care a maker gives to his products.

Dreams? To see the Sjaak Hullekes brand grow much more, be a stable and strong company. I also would love to design for an old fashion house and to give it a new mentality .

My problems? Time and money, I guess the most given answer by many entrepreneurs during these tough years of recession.
